Custom Charts Shared Dashboards allow users to share entire dashboards of charts with internal and external users on Jira Cloud.

Users can display Custom Charts in the Jira Service Management portal, or internally like a wallboard.

Creating a Shared Dashboard

  1. While editing your dashboard, click Add gadget

  2. In the gadget search bar, search for Shared Dashboard. Click to Add the “Custom Charts Shared Dashboard” gadget

  3. Configure the way you’d like your Shared Dashboard to appear:

In the Additional Settings and Link Access Permissions

  • All Custom Charts gadgets that you’ve already added to your Jira dashboard will be visible here. Drag and drop the various gadgets to reposition them on your Shared Dashboard

  • Click the Trashcan icon to the right of the name of each gadget to remove the ones you do not want to include in your Shared Dashboard

  • Use the Green chainlink to ensure each gadget appears on the Shared Dashboard

  1. Title (Required): This will be populated by default with the Jira dashboard name, and can be edited

  2. Layout: adjust the column layout for your Shared Dashboard

  3. Theme: choose light mode or dark mode

  4. Link Access Permissions: this setting controls who can access the link to your Shared Dashboard. See below for more details on Link Access Permissions

Shared Dashboard Settings

Description

Enter a title for the Shared Dashboard in the text box. This title shows at the top of the Shared Dashboard.

Choose the layout of the Shared Dashboard by clicking on a specific tile. The layout options align with Confluence page layouts.

Choose whether you want your Shared Dashboard to appear in light mode or dark mode.

Link Access Permissions

COMING SOON Select this option to give any one access to the Shared Dashboard, even if they do not have access to your Jira instance.

COMING SOON Select this option to give any one who has the Access code access to the Shared Dashboard, even if they do not have access to your Jira instance.

Select this option to give customers in a Jira Service Management (JSM) access to the Shared Dashboard via the JSM Portal.

JSM Project dropdown: Required. Select any JSM project(s) where the Shared Dashboard link should appear in the portal. This makes the Shared Dashboard link available to all Customers of that service desk

Organization dropdown: If you’d like to give a subset of customers access to the Shared Dashboard link, select any JSM customer organization that houses those customers

Portal user dropdown: If you’d like to give specific portal user(s) access to the Shared Dashboard link only, select them from this dropdown

Select this option to give users with access to the Jira Dashboard the ability to display the Shared Dashboard as a wallboard

Use the toggle to give Shared Dashboard viewers the ability to click into the displayed Jira issues and see their details.

Shared Dashboards Data Restrictions

Shared Dashboard Owner

When a Shared Dashboard is created, all of the issues in the charts are loaded with the permissions of the Shared Dashboard owner. This user is the last person to save the Shared Dashboard gadget.

This user is also the only one who can edit Custom Charts that are part of the Shared Dashboard. For additional details on changing the Shared Dashboard owner, navigate here.
